Aero Structures

Smith's have invested in both Long Bed and Short Bed Machines Tools to cater for the Aerostructure sector. These include multi spindle 3 & 5 axis Long bed machines of up to 37,185mm in length x 3,870mm wide.

Components produced include Spars, Stringers, Ribs & Chords in aluminium as well as straps in titanium and spigots and similar components in high tensile steels. We have machined families of components from 1,000mm up to 22,000mm in length on the Airbus A320, A340 & A380.

Customers supported include Airbus, Bombardier and major OEM first tiers
