Planning & Control

Smith's have a number of personnel employed in the planning and control functions. This is geared to taking customer orders and ensuring the whole production process runs smoothly from ordering the material through to delivering the finished component on time. The core system enabling them to control the hundreds of individual components being purchased and processed in the Jobshop software package.

The package helps us control external suppliers, material and subcontractors, via the MRP module and the internal processes via component routings and machine scheduling. Order book control, capacity planning, despatch paperwork (including bar-coding), purchase orders, stores control / valuations, job costing and invoicing are all handled within the system.

We are able to directly import data into Jobshop from the Exostar electronic data interchange business trading system. This is used by both Boeing and Rolls Royce.
