Smith's have grown their experienced team of engineers to now include composite expertise. With advancements in aerospace design it has now become an important factor to be able to provide a hybrid / metallic / composite solution to meet engineering applications in aerospace, defence, marine and medical markets. We are able to offer:
- Consultation / advice on solutions
- Development of materials
- Methodology and techniques
- Engineering / interface between composite and metallic structures.
The facility has three ovens with dimensions upto 1.8m x 2.0m x 1.8m and operating temperatures upto 300 degrees centigrade.
Capabilities include the bonding of 'metal to metal' and 'metal to composite' within a controlled oven cured environment.
GFRP and CFRP applications can also be undertaken in an Out-of-Autoclave Process.
